What we’re working on:
Creating a voluntary inclusion skill certificate program for faculty and staff members.
The program's goal will be to build capacity of all members of the university community to: treat every individual with respect; value and leverage differences; and to collectively work to enhance our safe and supportive environment that honors and promotes the physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being of all community members.
Anticipated completion date

Capacity building by:
creating lines of communication that are effective and consistent, including sustained dialogue with students, active listening, and responding to events in a timely manner; promoting the participation of faculty and staff in professional development opportunities that increase cultural fluency, including an internal certificate program; and reviewing the goals of the 2017-2023 Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan, including reorganizing the framework to clearly define institutional priorities. Over the summer, we've been working hard on developing several high impact practices that will assist the campus in building our capacity for Inclusive Excellence.
We are happy to announce the build out and implementation of the Hate/Bias Reporting form which will be live in late July 2019!
Congratulations to Dr. Sherri Benn, Dr. Stella Silva, and Robert Garcia for being elected to serve as the Chair, Co-Chair and Treasurer respectively of the Texas Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (TADOHE).
The Council on Inclusive Excellence will resume our monthly meetings on Friday, August 16, 2019.
